Dream Ticket: Obama/????
It’s certainly premature (not to mention self-indulgent) to begin speculating about who Sen. Obama might choose as his running mate once he cleans up in the primaries. But then again, what are blogs for if not premature self-indulgence?
DraftObama is having a good discussion on this question, complete with suggestions for qualifications, potential dark horses, and names of Republicans who could create a compelling unity ticket.
In a recent column, former Clinton counsel Lanny Davis makes a case for the unlikely but intriguing cross-over candidacy, noting that “The lingering trauma of 9/11, the war in Iraq and the fight against terrorism call for an administration open to bipartisan solutions to
the crises that confront the country.” Davis concludes by predicting that one party will embrace this radical concept in 2008, and that whichever party it is will win the White House.
Who would you like to see on the ticket with Sen. Obama?

My vote’s for Richardson… but I think Ditka is the logical choice.

Richardson may have some Bill Clinton-type issues… could be a bad association for the Senator.

Former Governor Mark Warner, D-Virginia(noted aisle-crosser, strong executive resume working in a “red” state with a Republican state house, known for fiscal responsibility)Senator Richard Lugar, R-Indiana(moderate, anti-war Republican, co-authored with Obama the Lugar-Obama Proliferation and Threat Reduction Initiative)Former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell, D-Maine(73 years old (putting him just north of McCain), but a Senator for 16 years and a majority leader for 6, was offered a seat on the Supreme Court by Clinton, brokered the Belfast Peace Agreement, Director in the front office of the Boston Red Sox)
