FOX News Accuses Sen. Obama of “Reverse Racism”

Posted by JHC in Media, Attacks, Video

In a video clip picked up by the ever-vigilant Newshounds, FOX News host John Scott suggests to his guests (both of whom represent ideologically conservative magazines, incidentally) that Sen. Obama is guilty of “reverse racism,” since many of his advisers are white:

Kind of interesting, Byron, some of the criticism that is directed in Obama’s direction. You know, the criticism is that ?e’s a black candidate surrounding himself with a lot of white advisers. I mean, it almost becomes kind of a reverse kind of racism, doesn’t it?

Couldn’t have anything to do with the fact that the vast majority of political advisers are white, could it? Predictably, the National Review’s Byron York then cites Sen. Obama’s Harvard degree and his Chicago neighborhood to support the ridiculous argument that he is “not being black enough.”

But don’t take my word for it. Behold the incessant smear merchantry that is FOX News:

We need to find positive ways to counter this type of suggestion and innuendo - it’s so hard to do something other than blast back with some derogatory retort…I keep asking myself: “How Would Barack Respond?” - or - “WWBD” What Would Barack Do?

My response would be to question what ithas to do with anything. It really is pretty silly, and it’s doubtful many will be taken in by it, except those too far right to ever be Obama supporters to begin with.

I think reporters and those alike should give blacks, whites, hispanics etc the benefit of the doubt in reference to how we vote. As an american of african descent, I study the issues, the candidates and make an informed decision. It is an insult to make a blank statement that Obama is not appealing to us and therefore we are not going to vote for him for that reason or any other simple reason.
