Just wanted to give you guys a heads up on a grassroot project on March 24. From my blog:
I want to DO something…I here that from Obama supporters all the time. Well, now we CAN. March 24 is “Honk for Obama Day”. Or if you prefer “Beep for Barack”. On this day, Obama supporters across the country will be standing on corners and waving banners and posters.
This idea originated from the Gahanna, OH group. Our administrator, Faye Martin, posted the idea less then 2 days ago and there are already groups on board in Denver, Philly, Pasadena, and Salt Lake City among others.
To give you an idea of what a rally like this is like: The first time I did this type of thing I went with my brother on one of his outings during the Kerry campaign. I was rather embarrassed and wasn’t too sure it was even a good idea. Turns out it was fun and I had a ball. People were so enthusiastic and we got so many honks and responses. Lots of cheering and thumbs up!! It truly was exciting and I came away with a wonderful feeling for both the campaign and for the new friends I made at the event.
Hopefully, you can join us on March 24. We have just applied for a “Honk for Obama” group so check in there to see what we are up, ask questions and hopefully come on board. Definitely let us know if you are going to participate so we can keep track. Thanks! If you know people in other groups, especially in other states I hope you’ll spread the word.
Also, if you do this, consider having a couple of signs that say: Visit BarackObama.com. Hopefully, it will “drive” people to the website and boost donations before that so critical March 31 date.
