Will Candidates Attend CBC Institute/FOX News Debates?
The New York Times reports that the Congressional Black Caucus Institute has signed on to co-sponsor two presidential debates with FOX News — a move that earned them a sharp rebuke from Rev. Jesse Jackson, who rightly asked, “Why would presidential candidates, or an organization that is supposed to advocate for Black Americans, ever give a stamp of legitimacy to a network that continually marginalizes Black leaders and the Black community?”
It will be interesting to see what kind of pressure to skip the debates materializes and how the Democratic candidates respond. I’ve discussed my personal view on this previously — I think it’s a great opportunity to broadcast the fact that the jig is up on FOX’s “fair and balanced” reporting — but am curious to hear what your thoughts are on this.

Come on! Obama can ONLY WIN in every way by participating in ANY debate!
His appeal as a uniter of all Americans needs to be seen and heard by as many voters and potential voters as possible….independents and many registered Republicans are taking good, long looks at him and liking what they see….his speaking commands attention and people everywhere, from allwalks of life and from all backgrounds are
listening….if the Black Caucus is co-sponsor, doesn’t that show some fairness and balance? I personally don’t care where Senator Obama speaks or debates as long as MANY MANY people see and hear him….whenever that happens a light goes on! There should be many more debates before the primaries but I doubt that will happen….but owing to the “star power” of this candidate and the great interest in him, networks might be seeing advertising and sponsorship millions dancing across their datebooks!
As I’ve already said Obama can and will only be helped by any debate,in ANY venue!
