David M,

I read the LA Times op-ed when it was published. It was an idiotic thesis then and remains so now, especially in its latest race-baiting, Limbaugh-sanctioned reincarnation. Thanks for the input though.

And, as always, for reading the site...

This parody is from the LA Times op-ed ( http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/la-oe-ehrenstein19mar19,0,5335087.story?coll=la-opinion-center ) from March 19 where LA Times writer David Ehrenstein explains that to assuage white "guilt" (i.e., the minimal discomfort they feel) over the role of slavery and racial segregation in American history, white (read: liberals) people seek to replace stereotypes of a dangerous, highly sexualized black man with a benign figure for whom interracial sexual congress holds no interest. The black individual whites (read: liberals) seek is the "Magic Negro".

The parody references Ehrenstien's article and concerns from the black community (ie Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson) challenging Obama's "inauthenticty," as compared to such sterling examples of "genuine" blackness as Al Sharpton and Snoop Dogg.

Paul Shanklin may have made this parody (using the term loosely), but make no mistake about the source: Rush Limbaugh is the force behind this farce.

See, (but don't link): paulshanklin {dot} com

The fact that this drivel was made is testament to the fear the NeoCon Right has for Barack's candidacy. He is going to shake up the status quo. The NeoCon Right *acts* like they are shaking in their boots about Hillary, but the truth is in their attacks - they are trying to belittle Barack because of his message. He will shake up the status quo that benefits the NeoCons in a way that Hillary cannot (her entrenchment in the establishment means that they "own" a big chunk of her, too)
